The 19-year-old, who was found charred to death in Walmart’s walk-in-oven on October 19, had migrated to Canada along with her mother from India, three years ago. Kaur’s father and brother still live in India.
Almost a month after the death of Indian-origin woman Gursimran Kaur, an employee of Walmart in Canada, the Canadian police has concluded its investigation in the case and said that they “didn’t find any foul play” in her death.
The 19-year-old, who was found charred to death in Walmart’s walk-in-oven on October 19, had migrated to Canada along with her mother from India, three years ago. Kaur’s father and brother still live in India.
When Kaur went missing on October 19, her mother called her up who also worked in the same place. When the calls went unanswered, her mother started searching for her at the workplace and eventually found her inside the walk-in-oven. She discovered Kaur’s body as one of the employees from the bakery section indicated toward some “leakage” from the oven.

Martin Cromwell, the Public Information Officer of the Halifax Regional Police said “We understand that there have been many questions about what happened. Thorough investigations take time.”
Cromwell further added “As a part of the investigation, we conducted several interviews and reviewed video footage. I can share that our investigation has not led us to suspect foul play. We do not believe anyone else was involved. We acknowledge the public’s interest in this case, and that there are questions that can never be answered.”
The police further informed that the Department of Labour and Medical Examiners Service is continuing the work in the case and the investigation still remains active. However, the police added this update could be the final on the case “out of respect for the family”.
